Orion Painting

Here are the most recent updates for the Orion Painting. I spent a day drawing trees in Central Park. I am now in the process of getting the tree studies to work with the overall composition in the final drawing. Tree studies below. I purchased some potted grass to work from, hours and hours of drawing grass in perspective.....hmmm.

To the left, the drawing is starting to take shape, so so exciting. The continued struggle is giving the figures the feeling of action in the form of struggle which is quite different than the feeling of action in the form of skipping through the park. With so many figures there are so many individual opportunities for connection, infinite possibilities, overwhelming and incredibly gratifying.

  1. Wow. Really amazing Camie. I specially like how her body feels full, the foreshortening is quite amazing, the atmospheric forest and the grass... the drawing is emerging in a fascinating way!

  2. Rad! That female form is so sensual. My eyes just want to wander and explore it for hours. And, that expression on Orion's face is well done.
Have fun with that grass. I look forward to the finished drawing.

I love mythology, and I really enjoy your interpretations. What draws you to the specific stories you depict?

  3. This past year I have been drawn particularly to mythological stories that involve "metamorphosis" or "evolution" one could say. I am so appreciative of your interest.
